What is the EU AI Act?

The EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) sets obligations based on an AI system’s risk tier for systems placed on the EU market or whose output is used in the EU.

What are the risk tiers?

Prohibited (Art. 5), high-risk (Annex III), limited risk (transparency, Art. 50), minimal risk, and general-purpose AI (GPAI, Art. 53+).
